Trav's Cheese Blog

Beloit College just released its annual "Mindset List," where they figure out some of the stuff that today's college freshmen have either never known or always known. And for the Class of 2021 who were mostly born in 1999 .

Here’s some of the highlights with a link to the full Beloit College “Mindset List” below.

  1. A movie scene longer than two minutes has always seemed like an eternity.

  2. They barely know any phones except smartphones.

  3. They have never used a floppy disk . . . and probably never bought CDs.

  4. They've never known a world where they couldn't order anything they needed from Amazon . . . and get it in two days thanks to Amazon Prime.

  5. They've never known a world without "Pokemon".

  6. There have always been blogs on the Internet for them to read.

  7. They only know Napster as a failing brand . . . not as THE place to download music for free.

  8. They only know Justin Timberlake as a solo artist.

  9. And they have only experienced Bill Clinton as Hillary's husband, not as president.

  10. eHarmony has always offered an algorithm for happiness.

  11. In their lifetimes, Blackberry has gone from being a wild fruit to being a communications device to becoming a wild fruit again.

  12. Dora the Explorer and her pet monkey Boots helped to set them on the course of discovery.

  13. As toddlers they may have dined on some of that canned food hoarded in case of Y2K.
